droid

The Android OS platform, as used on the Droid X smartphone, has had it’s share of problems with Exchange users. Motorola has been issuing a series of stopgap measures to get around them. For example, some Droid X users are currently unable to set up their Microsoft Exchange accounts, while others with e-mail access do not receive any notifications. “Both of these issues will be addressed in the Android 2.2 update,” Motorola said.

The upcoming Android 2.2 OS, also known as Froyo, also brings Enterprise enhancements to the table, as well as the inclusion of flash. Look for the update to hit the Internet in the coming weeks. In the meantime, Motorola urges users to stay away from leaked copies of the OS as they have been known to cause system crashes.

Finally. this instant updating, known as “push,” been an option for Exchange/Outlook accounts from the start. Even Google beat Hotmail to the punch. Well, the time has finally, almost, come.  This feature has been promised to become part of the Hotmail suite for some time and it’s finally upon us. Microsoft’s Dharmesh Mehta recently announced that this Monday, August 30th 2010, Exchange ActiveSync will become available.

We all know that hopping on the Exchange train heaps great rewards for your business, but it always helps to get a little reinforcement. Microsoft has been running these “Case studies” lately where they go over a company who made the switch and the benefits it yielded them. They just posted a new one on the Pella Corporation.

Who is the Pella Corporation? They are a window and door manufacturer that have been at it since 1925. The recession had put them in a tough spot. Nobody was buying homes therefore window and door construction were way down. They ended up saving themselves due to a combination of thrifty business practices and technological innovation. That’s where Microsoft comes in.
