I have not had a problem with 123together as a service. I don’t recall a time when there was any significant downtime. They do seem to have fairly high start-up fees though and they aren’t as flexible with these as I’d like.

So I tried 123Together, and their service seemed like it would have worked well… However i discovered that the main use for the service (syncing with my phone) didn’t work like i wanted it to, so I went through the hoops the cancel. However when they asked me to send my password unencrypted through EMAIL. I instead told them to call me to verify my identity. They responded, but I didn’t get that email until after they had charge my account for 2 services. Another gripe. I tried adding an extra user account, which worked well, but I didn’ really need it so i went to cancel that account, but couldn’t do that online. So i figure it wouldn’t matter cause i was cancelling during the trial period anyway, right? So i’ve been charge $97.50, and billed another $25 for a $20 trial…. Nice. On the phone they are only condecending telling me what I did wrong. Still waiting to see if they’ll refund my money or if I have to take it up to the CC.

We were using Exchange 2000 in our company and decided to outsource to a Dedicated Exchange 2003 server with 123Together.com. Their web based control panel lets me manage groups of users together and I can control advanced and simple settings on all of our 630 users. In comparison to managing Exchange internally, 123Together.com’s service is very easy to configure and use. We have Windows 95-Vista/Outlook 97-2007 as well as Mac/Entourage, Linux/ Evolution clients and 123Together.com has supported all of our configurations.

I have outsourced well over 100 users to 123together for a couple of years now. This is a true business-class mission-critical service and I highly recommend it. Support is top-notch and 123together is constantly working to add to their feature set. We take full advantage of public folders, support for multiple PDA types including Blackberry, Sharepoint, Postini antispam, and more. Frankly, most of the problems we have experienced have been the result of Microsoft limitations, some of which are being addressed in the forthcoming Exchange 2007 release. As far as pricing policies, any modest premiums over competitors are well warranted. Storage quotas are aggregated amongst users within a single organization. My only complaint has been that pricing plans require predicting storage utilization to avoide overage premiums (similar to cell phones). There is also no way to set hard storage quotas. Some periodic policing of storage utilization should address this, but I do wish they would change.

We recently moved our email over to 123Together from Intermedia. Wow – what a difference! There were constant delays at Intermedia – some emails and appointments took over 5 minutes to sync up – often locking up Outlook. At 123together it was almost instant! Support was also an issue – we had to wait 1/2 a day for support from Intermedia. At 123Together, support emails were answered in less than 10 minutes.

My CEO wasn’t able to reach me and called their tech support after midnight one Saturday. He had bought a new Blackberry and needed help in setting it up before he left for his trip Sunday morning. Their 24×7 US based reps were able to get him going right away. It definitely beats being woken up to setup a Blackberry. I don’t know of any other Exchange hosting company that does that.

We were running Exchange 2000 internally with our 840 mailboxes but faced issues in keeping it running and stable. We decided to switch to a dedicated Exchange 2007 server with 123Together.com. Their migration tools allowed us to easily migrate our accounts and data seamlessly over 3 months – at our own pace. It was great that we didn’t have to go crazy trying to migrate everything over a weekend and being able to have our internal server and our hosted server running side by side was a great plus. My boss told me to look into the possibility of having our email hosted for our 350 users but wanted me to make sure that we selected a solution that was tried and true and tested. After talking to a few companies I found out that 123Together.com is the only large hosting company to have Hosted Exchange 2007 on Microsoft’s HMC platform. That’s the only Microsoft designed platform for Exchange server hosting. My boss decided to go with them and we have been very satisfied with the decision.

123together has offered unreliable service during the six months during which they have hosted our email. Their servers are down for days on end, preventing us from accessing our email. Uptime guarantee applies only if you keep precise accounting of downtime and prove it to their satisfaction. 123together is a poor service provider.

We have been with 123 Together for a month now and have had no less than 5 days without email. They are blaming this on a “new network infrastructure” as if that is a valid excuse. I would suggest you stay away from 123Together and Groupspark (their private label brand) entirely until they have proven they have the management and strategy to host mission critical services such as email.

I needed “Mission Critical” email, something very reliable, so I signed up with 123together on Jan4. Everything looked good, so I initiated several domain transfers, new hosting, reissue SSL cert, etc. From Jan5 to Jan7 they claimed to have “intermittent” connection problems. In reality, everything was down for two days, stretching a simple 3 hour job into a 3 day job. Tech support gave false deadlines, manager did too. Customer service gave me the runaround. No one sounded like they cared. Not even billing this morning when I called to cancel. Sherweb got my business, and their support and service has been the opposite of 123together – that is, excellent.

I’m not an expert in the email arena so I went to hosted exchange with some fear and anxiety. I’m a one-person office, so no big requirements here. I found 123together to be extremely easy to set up and transition to from my old POP3 mail. But over time there have been quite a few periods of downtime. When there have been downtimes, I’ve been assured that no email would be lost blah blah blah, but I KNOW I have missed some. What is scary are the ones I don’t know about–how many of those have there been? Yesterday things were down again and an email I really needed to receive took me about 10 extra hours to get to me. I don’t expect perfection but I do need a higher level of reliability than I’ve been getting.

Begrudgingly allowed a long term customer to get advertised rates on site after reductions but tried to get us to pay old fees even though there is no contract. Extra fees for simple administration. Overall pretty shady and not awesome. We are looking around.

We are a small public relations and marketing communications firm specializing in home fashions, home furnishings and lifestyle clients. We have only 2 employees and fiveaffiliates (independent contractors) working for us. For our small company, I happen to be the one in charge of IT, which is scary, because my background is not in IT at all.
Our affiliates are located in different parts of the country, and we all travel a lot, so sharing information was a challenge until recently. We needed the ability to quickly and easily share visual information with our affiliates without having to duplicate all files on everyone’s PC and using up all the space on everyone’s hard drive. We needed a solution that wouldn’t require IT knowledge and would meet our storage and pricing requirements.
We started using 123Together.com’s hosted Windows SharePoint Services. It is a perfect solution for us, as it allows us to easily share files online. And while we began using it simply to share images we began to find other uses.
Each month we assemble a report of all activities undertaken on behalf of our clients. It is a collaborative document we used to manually assemble from each individual’s report. That report was then “bicycled” around for final approval – - a lengthy and needlessly complex procedure. SharePoint has greatly simplified the process. The report is now posted on line and each affiliate can add to it as the month progresses. No need to wait for someone to finish their work before the next person can begin. The check-in and check-out functionality helps us avoid version conflicts; and the SharePoint version control functionality assures us everyone is looking at the same information.
We are continually finding more way to take advantage of all the features of SharePoint. For example, we started creating workspaces for events and special projects we create for our clients.
123Together.com’s SharePoint application helped us resolve our file sharing and collaboration challenges, and our experience with the service has been very positive – especially for a guy with no IT training but all the IT responsibility.

I hope they would move me to Exchange 2007 sooner, but I am very satisfied overall. They support Palm Pre, so all of our team is now all set. They recommended that we don’t set up auto-sync for Palm Pre, as this reduces a battery life.
Service is fast overall, our drivers are well connected with the head office.

I switched to 123together.com almost a year ago. The upgrade process was a little to my disliking as it required PST exports. However, for the most part their service has been up and running during our primary business hours and if down at night my clients have not noticed. Their BES service is about 98% up-time, but with 3 carriers it is hard to tell if errors come from the host or from our carrier. 123together is a very easy way to run an Exchange environment.

123together has not been able to have blackberry enterprise service work correctly for us in over 60 days. We have multiple calls into their tech support without resolution. Their service is easy to use but be careful if you have a problem. It appears they don’t have the higher end technical capacity to work through problems outside of click this box or reset your blackberry. I have had a multitude of occasions where we were told that a “admin” would be contacting us without any contact whatsoever. All in all, IF their service is working it is good but when its not don’t hold your breath for a resolution.

I am an independent consultant, and many people in my industry use POP3 email; however, I needed a solution that allowed better flexibility for my virtual team. With 123Together.com, my messages are on a server, so my subcontractors and I can access email using Outlook Web Access from any computer. When I purchased a new computer, all I had to do is set up Exchange, and all my emails and calendar just appeared. I have two computers, and since my emails are synchronized with the server I don’t have to worry about where everything is.
In addition, I am based in California, and I have a virtual assistant who is in London. 123Together.com’s hosted Microsoft Exchange server helps my assistant work as if she is right next door. I set her up as a delegate, so when I am not in the office, she can manage my calendar, respond to emails and schedule meetings on my behalf – which makes our work very easy.

What I like most about 123Together.com is the reliability of their email service and customer support.
