Have been trying Intermedia’s Exchange Server for about a month now. So far, works great. When their server wouldn’t allow creating a public folder, I emailed them at 2:00am in the morning and they had the problem fixed by 2:30am. They also have an online chat feature that I’ve used. Great support so far!

The control panel that InterMedia is using is so easy to use and well designed that it should be integrated with all Microsoft Exchange packs. The support is second to none, and the reseller function is well integrated. All together a very good product.

Have been with Intermedia’s hosted Exchange for almost two years. Only twice in this time, earlier on in 2004, did they take longer than an hour or so to fix a problem. Since then the service has been perfect. Highly recommended.

Been using intermedia.net for both web hosting and shared exchange for the past four months with no problems so far. The few quesions/configuration issues i had were responded to quickly (within an hour or two) whether it be via phone or email.

We have been using this Exchange solution for half a year now and all seems good. We have received very good support both from the reseller and even directly from Intermedia. It couldn’t be better as I see it.

Intermedia.NET Exchange service is excellent. Second benefit – support. Also best control panel I’ve found out there. I highly recommend this service.

99.9% uptime. The most important selling point for my firm. Even being down for an hour can cause us a lot of problems in our daily business. Intermedia has lived up to this uptime guarantee.

We needed to cancel the service with them due to a technical issue. The surprise came when they asked us to send them our credit card number (not just last 4 digits) by email in order to close the account. Not sure what is going on there, but I do not think we will be using them again.

Intermedia was best deal we found, considering the amount of space they provide, plus the pricing of their add-ons. Their support has been great, thus far.

Absolutely UNHAPPY and would NEVER DO AGAIN! We purchased a hosted solution with them for exchange, but they put us on 2007 exchange not 2003. That was the first mistake. Found out from competitors they are the ONLY ONE ON THE MARKET supporting exchange 2007 and there’s a reason, they aren’t ready! Intermedia.net is NOT prepared for the work involved in getting 2007 exchange to be smooth and workable. Was not pleasant as an administrator to find that the console for control was laggy, unresponsive and un-usable. Contacted their tech. support and they agreed I had an issue but told me my resolution wouldn’t come for another 2 weeks at best after they patch or add new servers to the node. Uh, but they don’t do refunds? Don’t give service credit for lack of useable uptime? So I called to cancel, no problem, they LOVED to do that. However when you cancel you DON’T GET A REFUND, even if you were recently charged for your monthly service. I had to call up, ask for a supervisor, give my previous case numbers to be enough ‘reasoning’ for them to consider crediting me. Hassle from start to finish, and left such a bad taste in my mouth I’ll never refer them in a positive manner to ANYONE!

They seem to have pulled a bait and switch on us. They advertised $9.95 per month for one mail box. When we got our first bill, it was $35.85 and they now say the cost is 11.95 per box and minimum 3 boxes. We’re very disapointed as it took a lot of time to set this up.

Make sure to do your homework. Try the better providers like http://www.MailStreet.com, or http://www.asp-one.com. But, stay away from http://www.Intermedia.net – they are the worst of all the providers. They launched with Exchange 2007 before it was ever ready. Their control panel was really slow and painful. And when you cancel because of real issues that they agree with, they REFUSE to give refunds. They couldn’t fix the problems quickly – all their real tech people are in Russia, so everything waits overnight. And a lot of their support is in Russia as well, which is painful to deal with. Stay away from Intermedia.net and go with someone else who doesn’t cut corners.

Set up a client to do shared exchange hosting. Within the first two weeks we’ve experienced periodic outages, not able to connect to the exchange server, etc. This is email for a business…their 99.9% uptime guarantee seems to be meaningless when we’ve been down for hours at a time in the first two weeks of service. Last night they moved mailboxes to try and resolve ongoing problems with Exchange 2007…we’re unable to send/receive mail, and people sending to us aren’t even getting bounce messages…they are working w/Microsoft to resolve the problems w Exchange 2007…but you know what…we don’t have time to troubleshoot Microsoft’s broken SW, or wait for intermedia’s email to be functional again…we’re leaving! Oh, we’re still under the 30 days try us for free…we’ll see how the refund goes too…

I don’t understand how they are in business. Their service has issues almost daily, their support team is not good (especially their Russian team at night), and they don’t really care about customer satisfaction. Their sales team kept telling me how they’re the “global leader”, I should have known better to go with them when they could never tell me which analyst or 3rd party thinks they’re the global leader. Horrible experience – we lost businesss because they kept losing inbound emails.

This may be one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with in 20+ years of business. They daily issues with email, exchange servers, blackberry usage, etc. You call their support line and it actually tells you that they are having “blah blah blah” trouble and hangs up on you. What?! If you are able to actually hold on and wait for over 20 min. avg, then you get a technician who does not know what they are talking about and they have to “escalate” to a level 2 tech who is supposed to call you back and NEVER does. The funniest part is they promise “O downtime” HAH! What a crock! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU WANT DAILY HEADACHES!!!!!

Not one to write reviews much but hopefully help someone making same mistake – this company is terrible. Email (20 mailboxes) down for 2 days at one point, but almost constant issues otherwise. Tel tech support means waiting for approx 20-30 minutes whilst being told you’re first in the queue (each time I called I was 1st call in queue! despite having to wait up to an hour). Their status page is edited daily to remove the raft of issues (some of which never make the status page anyway). Agree with other poster – worst company I’ve ever dealt with in about 10 years.

While their actual Exchange hosting service has been getting much better (less downtime and fewer slowdowns) their admin tool is a horrible slow POS and their tech support has a customer is always wrong attitude. Stay away from this company if you can.

Intermedia.Net is probably the worst company I have ever dealt with. They have no morals and lie about everything. For example, before I signed up, I asked them if their tech support was all in the US. The sales guy said yes. Only after I migrated our 37 users to their systems did I realize that their tech support is in St. Petersburg, RUSSIA! That explains why their support is so bad and practically useless. Add this to their lack of ability to keep their Exchange servers up and running, and you realize that they will probably go out of business soon if they can’t provide a good service. Over the last month that we’ve been with them, they’ve had some sort of issue just about every day. For some days, their OWA was just completely down. Other days, our Outlooks (in three offices across the country) kept disconnecting simultaneously and they first told us that it was our issue. Finally, they admitted that they were having diffcilties, but only after we kept reporting the issue for 4 days stratight! And I’ve had dozens of our customers’ emails to me keep bouncing because Intermedia can’t keep their systems up and running. Stay away from Intermedia. I bet they’re about to go out of business with service like this.

went to transfer from old mail provider to a intermedia’s small business exchange account. The creation of the accounts was really easy until I determined that they didn’t set up f’ing MX records in my DNS entry… so all my mail bounced for 24 hours straight! Then to add insult to injury, all my tickets were completely ignored that were opened in the their support portal. Then the cherry on top was that the only way to get someone on the phone is to pay for premium enterprise support which was an extra $150. I was really screwed, so I paid the money to get a guy on the phone to verify that they screwed up. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE IN THE FIRST 24 HOURS. 100% of my mail (including client mail) is being bounced right now.

We can’t send anyone using Intermedia any email. We get failure: 421 4.7.0 exmfd001-1.intermedia.net Error: too many errors on every email we send to them. We get no errors from anyoen else. They hide tech support contacts and just seem to be rather poor in supporting their own customers let alone outside persons.

Intermedia claims their mailman service doesn’t affect my mail getting delivered. I haven’t seen a new email in about a week. It took me 2 days to get ahold of someone in tech support by phone, and still no response to multiple emails sent… glad I found this site… the competition is looking good these days.

So far, so good… I was looking for a simple, fast and affordable solution to host my email – my last provider was a friend’s service and my email was down for 4 months! And I could not get them to fix it fast enough (you get what you pay for when it’s free I guess). Anyhow, I read these and other posting and was about to stay away from InterMedia. But when I thought about it a little more, it’s only $16 and change for their 3 email package (more than enough for my needs) and figured I can afford risking $16 to ‘test’ them out. Well, so far so good. I have 6 other domain email addresses forwarding my InterMedia account and I test email every day (from various outside sources) and have not missed one email to date. Also, the setup was easy and fast. Within 20 minutes of signing up, I had my mail.mydomain.com webmail URL, I configured my outlook to POP my email, and it all worked! Listen folks, email is perhaps the easiest of services to provide these days – it’s not rocket science. InterMedia has been around for many years and I would have to think, they can manage email hosting. My suggestion, try them out, if you don’t like them, go ahead and purchase the more expensive services out there and by done with it. We’ll see how I feel down the line, but for now, I’d recommend it. -Jason P.S. I have 10+ years IT experience so perhaps understanding email and being technical helped my experience?

They were awesome from the time we started with them in 2003 till this summer. Nothing but downed servers and bounced email since then. Tech support went from stellar to horrible. I think they grew too fast, and their outsourcing tech support to Russia does nothing to improve the experience

Our previous Exchange Provider was terrible. They were constantly down, tech support was a joke, and it was impossible to get ahold of anyone. Intermedia has been great with helping us get started and we have not had any issues thus far.

We were big fans of Intermeida until the pricing went extremely high and support and uptime fell though the floor. We just recovered from no inbound email service for 4 days. It took 2 days before the Russiun support team to acknolege a problem and then 2 days to think about it. The previous outage we were down for 3 days and they had to restore from tape (So much for EMC relablity) Pricing for sharepoint is over $400 per month and so slow you can watch paint dry. We are looking for a new providor and hopefully get off this mess asap.

Absolutely Horrible.. Down again.. so far 6 hours!
This is from their status page:
Currently some customers hosted on server EXVMBX016-5 may experience issues when accessing e-mail. Some of the mailbox databases were corrupted. Our System Administrators are restoring data at the moment, so your mailbox might be unavailable for a while. The whole restoration process should be completed within the next 3-4 hours. No data will be lost during the restoration. All incoming messages are queued on the mail filter servers and will be delivered to the mailboxes once the mailboxes are restored.

I’ve been with Intermedia for a year with no problems. They also have good tech support that you can actually get on the phone. They are expensive and there are too many hidden costs, but these are business expenses. I’m considering doing the 30 day trial at SherWeb because of the cost savings.

I’ve been with them for over a year. I have no issues with them. The service is excellent and you can easily get someone on the phone if you need help. They lost 1 star because they are expensive and there are many hidden costs such as the service comes with anti-SPAM, but it is worthless. If you want their premium anti-SPAM (the one that works) you have to pay extra.

I was better off using AOL to be honest and that shouldn’t say much. Everything always gets routed to my spam and emails always get stuck in my outbox. It was cheap but I have ridiculous file sending limitations. on top of everything any other service through them is overpriced and with tons of hidden fees.

Coming from an Exchange provider that didn’t stand true to their uptime Intermedia has done nothing but exceed my expectations. Their Sales rep was very knowledgeable and their Support is stellar with little to no hold times. I highly recommend hosted Exchange with Intermedia. Keep up the good work guys!

Not the cheapest but definitely the best. I tried 2 other companies – cheap guys like Sherweb – but you get what you pay for. I have had no downtime with Intermedia and the times I called them on the phone they answered in just a few seconds.

I have been using Intermedia now for about 2 years (I used other companies prior) and I have to say that they have the best features and support of all exchange hosting providers I have dealt with. The people I have spoken to on the phone were courteous and knowledgeable and there is virtually no downtime. They for sure exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend them to anybody.

I just signed on for the 2010 Exchange service and was impressed by the process they used to set up my mailboxes. No performance issues or hiccups. They have an SLA for uptime and data..They were 2 bucks more expensive but I also got a 25 GB mailbox

Intermedia is the only provider offering hosted Exchange 2010 – they also have a 99.999% uptime guarantee (which is the same as less than 6 minutes a year) and just announced a 100% data protection guarantee. They are far superior to the competition!
Anne

I had bad experience with their sales. They disconnected me and hung up on me several times. Kind of rude.

I decided to try Intermedia with a small client as a test. I have to say this is one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. After 24 hours of working with them, they still don’t have an email bounce-back issue resolved which is preventing my client from getting any email. The problem is clearly on their end, at least according to the email headers. They finally acknowledged this last night.
Also, their customer service line is too busy to accept calls. They assigned an account number to my client that’s not recognized by their system so we can’t directly call tech support. Their website won’t allow access to some pages because they think we need IE6 or above when we’re running IE8 on Windows 7.
And yes, there’s much more. Avoid this company like the plague.
Russell

Stay away from Intermedia, they are way overpriced. They wanted $100 just to upgrade me from 2007 to 2010 when I can just sign up for a new account and get a 2010 account. What a scam.

We have used Intermedia’s hosted Exchange for over 5 years. They used to be a great company, but no longer. For most of that time I barely ever called tech support, nor even had to log in the Hostpilot control panel. That changed in the spring of 2010. At Intermedia’s suggestion, we upgraded to Exchange 2010. What a mistake. Its been nothing but trouble since then. Tech support is no longer staffed by knowledgeable people. I had one support tech ask me to ping a non-related autodiscover record. Hmmm, why that record, and why couldn’t he ping it himself? Makes no sense. Meantime we now have slow service and frequent sync failures. Intermedia won’t do anything if they can’t replicate the problem themselves. However, it is nearly impossible for a tech to replicate an intermittent problem in the time frame allotted to review a case. Meantime, they refuse to check server logs or review obvious evidence of server problems sent to them.
Intermedia grew too fast, and now can’t handle the traffic, both on their servers in in their tech support department. Stay away.

I did some testing under my own email address and became an agent before rolling this out to my first customer. Everything seemed to work great. I imported all of my email, the speed seemed ok for an online-type service and their support would respond to my emails within 5 – 10 minutes.
So, I set up my new customer on their service.
The first day I was setting up his account, they had a failure on their ‘East’ server(s) and whatever backup or redundancy did not kick in correctly.
Now, again, within 3 weeks of that outage, they are having connectivity issues on the same server. Not to mention, the performance he has been seeing is less than desirable. Emails sit in his Outbox for quite some time on occasion.
This company needs to invest in their infrastructure before taking on any more new customers.

I have had no end with issues using outlook – emails will get stuck in the outbox for up to 1hr despite reconnecting etc. Support has been terrible with inept staff repeating requests, not offering any new ideas and unable to solve the problem. Highly frustrating to deal with – and they close your request if you don’t reply within 48hrs.
On top of this, Intermedia is very expensive when you want anything more than the base service – they charge a LOT for every little add on.
I will be moving to Office 365.

DO NOT USE unless you are a small company. Converting a global company with inhouse Exchange servers to Intermedia (onboarding) was HORRIBLE… and WE did all the planning and user cutovers !
Support is poor- a lot of Tier 1 people who know only the basics.
And always trying to upsell you on other products.
