Rackspace Archiving Now Available for Hosted Microsoft Exchange and Rackspace Email Customers

Posted by admin as Press Releases, Rackspace

San Antonio – August 12, 2009 – Rackspace® Hosting (NYSE:RAX), the world’s leader in hosting, today announced Rackspace Archiving, the newest addition to its leading business-class email hosting service that has over 1.3 million users. The new Rackspace Archiving solution enables hosted email customers to automatically keep a long-term backup of incoming and outgoing email. This archiving service was built to provide customers with the peace of mind that they can retrieve an email at any time using the powerful search functionality, such as when an employee accidentally deletes an important email, or when emails need to be retrieved for a discovery request.

“With email making up the lions’ share of business communications today, the amount of email is vast and unmanageable for many companies,” said Pat Matthews, General Manager of Rackspace Email & Apps. “With the addition of Rackspace Archiving we are delivering a best-in-class business email solution to meet this growing customer need.”

The need for companies to retain and retrieve email data can be a core business need, but it can also have legal consequences. Federal regulations, such as the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP), have specific requirements relating to a company’s production and retrieval of electronically stored information. Rackspace Archiving is designed to help companies more easily meet such legal burdens.

“Archiving is more than an email retrieving insurance policy for our business; it’s a part of our operating procedures. We didn’t want to manage the complexity of archiving in-house, so we looked to a hosted solution,” explained Kimberlee Augustine, CEO of DMS & Associates. “When Rackspace showed us their hosted email and archiving offering, we immediately saw the value and were thrilled they managed to make archiving so simple.”

Rackspace Archiving is now available for Rackspace’s Hosted Microsoft Exchange and Rackspace Email customers, and currently includes:

• Unlimited storage and unlimited data retention time, built on the Rackspace Cloud
• Comprehensive search functionality, including the ability to create and save searches
• Data storage in more than one location
• Complete control panel administration, with easy setup for new users
• Straightforward pricing at $3 per mailbox per month—a fraction of the cost of an in-house archiving system or other online storage solutions
• Award-winning Fanatical Support®, delivered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

“We believe that businesses that manage their own email in-house will see that a hosted email solution is not only more cost effective and more reliable than managing email themselves, it is also the better choice for backup and retrieval of their business-critical email,” said Matthews. “With Rackspace Archiving, we want our customers to truly experience worry-free email.”
