Top-Rated Business Email Hosting Provider Offers Expanded Options to Clients for Increased Productivity, Collaboration and Security

DENVER – March 4, 2008 – Top-rated* business email hosting provider USA.NET announced today that it is using the advanced features and capabilities of Microsoft Exchange 2007 SP1, SharePoint Services 3.0 and other state-of-the-art software applications and utilities to provide its clients with a more fully integrated eMessaging experience.

“Our latest expanded integration is part of our commitment to provide our clients with the best solutions and service available on an ongoing basis,” said USA.NET President Doug Howard.

“We work closely with our technology partners to provide integrated solutions that meet our clients’ custom messaging and collaboration requirements. “When any of our partners upgrade their services, as Microsoft did with Exchange 2007, we upgrade our client base. In fact, we haven’t charged our existing customers for an upgrade to Exchange since we began offering the service in 2000.”

At the heart of these integrated applications are Microsoft Exchange 2007 and SharePoint services, which provide advanced collaboration capabilities – from organizations spread across a building to those spread across the world. They also provide a consistent user experience that simplifies how people interact with an organization’s content, processes, and data.

Hosted Environments can Deliver More Cost-Efficient and Foolproof Integration, along with Risk-Free Upgrades
A significant advantage for organizations that use hosted services instead of in-house solutions is hosting providers’ ability to quickly meet an organization’s business requirements with a comprehensive selection of turnkey enhanced services.

“It is becoming common knowledge that the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model delivers more predictable costs, enhanced security, reliability, continuity, compliance readiness, and full-function integration for mobile and remote employees,” according to Howard.

The already growing trend toward SaaS and hosted eMessaging has accelerated because of the complexity and cost of upgrading to applications like Exchange 2007 and SharePoint services — including a required upgrade to 64-bit hardware for Exchange 2007.

Upgrading such systems in-house can be draining on internal budgets and resources, can create a great degree of uncertainty and, at times, can be beyond the capabilities of an in-house operation.

Hosted Integrated Solutions go beyond eMessaging
Email doesn’t have to be a stand-alone application. USA.NET can further streamline a business by integrating a company’s email with its other important applications, cutting down on the frustration and loss of productivity involved with moving information manually from one application to another or engineering integration in-house. Such integration of data can result in a huge productivity boost.

“At USA.NET, we are continually assessing ways to streamline our clients’ businesses by integrating our messaging solutions with their mobile devices, existing personnel directory, provisioning processes, web portal, fax services, and many other applications,” Howard said.

Quality of Integration is Dependent on the Exchange Hosting Provider
As eMessaging software applications become more complex and the management of security, compliance, continuity, upgrades and patches, and mobility become more difficult, the quality of the solution depends more and more on the quality of the hosting services provider.

Companies choosing a provider of hosted Exchange should look for:

*
High touch customer support
*
Email hosting track record
*
Change management, implementation and migration expertise
*
Customized and tiered services to fit clients’ requirements
*
Enhanced services to boost productivity and collaboration
*
Robust architecture and proven email security controls
*
Proven Service Level Agreements (SLAs)

This ranking follows a similar recognition from the Radicati Group in October in the hosted Microsoft Exchange market.

Leading Security SaaS Provider Continues to be Recognized for Growth, and Market Vision

MILFORD, CT – November 15, 2007 – Perimeter eSecurity (which includes USA.NET), the provider of complete security on demand, announced today that it is the recipient of the 2007 Frost & Sullivan “North American Entrepreneurial Company Award for Managed Security.” This Award is presented each year to the company that demonstrated superior entrepreneurial ability in its industry during the research period. Frost & Sullivan, the global growth consulting company, presented the Award to Perimeter eSecurity for its exemplary execution of an original market strategy resulting in extraordinary growth. It reflects Frost & Sullivan’s belief that the company’s business strategy is sound and poised for continued success.

“Perimeter pursues a unique vision within the marketplace by providing ‘affordable’ security to a growing constituency of SMBs that are faced with an increasingly complex matrix of compliance requirements in their respective vertical markets,” said Loren Rudd, Industry Analyst, Information Communications Technology Group. “Price has proven to be the operative variable in furthering the development of the IT security industry from an almost esoteric thing, to being the type of service that can be used by smaller enterprises in more diverse and horizontal segments, and potentially consumers.”

According to Frost & Sullivan’s research, “The industry drive to pare cost from the business has fueled the faster than expected transition from CPE-based services to security delivered ‘in the cloud’. This fundamental structural change has occurred in recognition of the fact that the near and medium term future growth of this market lies with smaller, more price sensitive end users who have traditionally been challenged in adopting security solutions due to its complexity and unpredictable cost structure.” Frost & Sullivan expects that “Perimeter’s core business and partnerships with its network service providers and VARs will continue to deepen indefinitely as new client networks are added and prospects become increasingly lucrative.”

“As mid-market businesses catch up in security and compliance, they find that Perimeter is the only security provider to offer a complete suite of on-demand security services,” said David Cowan, managing partner of Bessemer Venture Partners. Cowan a co-founder of Verisign, has led investments in other on-demand security firms like Postini, Cyota and Counterpane. “Perimeter is the security company to watch for the coming decade.”

“We are honored to receive Frost & Sullivan’s Entrepreneurial Company of the Year Award,” said Brad Miller, CEO, Perimeter eSecurity. “Our mission is to make security available for all businesses and our approach of offering a complete suite of security services on demand (or as a service) is the only viable way to promote widespread adoption. I would like to thank Frost & Sullivan for recognizing our achievements and acknowledging our very bright future.”

In the third quarter of this year Perimeter received two funding rounds totaling $104 million from Goldman Sachs, Bessemer Ventures and Stripes group. Perimeter eSecurity has shown a revenue growth rate of 331% over the last 5 years as reported by Deloitte & Touche. The company ranked the 31st fastest growing security company in Inc. magazine’s Inc. 5,000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in the country. Perimeter was also recently positioned by Gartner in the Visionaries quadrant of the “Magic Quadrant for MSSPs, North America, 1H07” 1 report.

Rudd added, “Part of what makes Perimeter eSecurity’s market position convincing to Frost & Sullivan is that the security services market is decreasingly confined to early adopter verticals. Ultimately, it is the strategic consonance of Perimeter’s vision with what is widely held and indicated to be the future of this market that makes Perimeter stand out in 2007.”

Perimeter eSecurity, headquartered in Milford, Connecticut, offers security services delivered on an ‘in the cloud’ basis and/or through a CPE model. By partnering with network service providers, Perimeter is able to deliver more than fifty of its on demand security services to four thousand networks through a national network of seven strategically-located operating centers and three redundant datacenters. Perimeter also employs a layered security strategy that incorporates vulnerability defense, intrusion defense, network defense, email defense, system defense, and user defense.

Audit assists USA.NET clients in achieving control-related needs

DENVER, CO – October 25, 2007 – Top-rated email hosting provider USA.NET announced today that it has completed its fifth consecutive annual SAS 70 Type II audit.

The SAS 70 Type II is widely recognized and demonstrates that USA.NET had an audit of its control activities relating to its Hosted Microsoft Exchange for its clients. It also examines the operational effectiveness of those controls.

The audit was completed by Deloitte and Touche LLP, a U.S. member firm of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu and one of the Big 4 accounting firms.

In an era when controls are crucial and control deficiencies can be fatal, businesses using USA.NET for Exchange Hosting have the following benefits:

1. Peace of mind: A client receives an opinion that an annual SAS 70 Type II independent audit internationally recognized and respected – has been performed for USA.NET.

2. A risk management tool: A SAS 70 Type II audit includes not only the examination of controls in place, as in a Type I audit, but also includes an opinion on the operating effectiveness of the controls during a period of time. Companies undergoing an SAS 70 Type II audit are committed to providing clients with information on the effectiveness of their controls throughout the year. USA.NET’s management has always been committed to the design and implementation of industry-leading controls.

3. Time and cost savings: USA.NET assumes the cost of the SAS 70 Type II expense in order to help its clients and their auditors. Clients or their auditors may be able to rely upon the SAS 70 Type II to limit or eliminate the need to audit USA.NET. In addition, USA.NET clients may also be able to use USA.NET’s SAS 70 Type II to help maintain and report their own electronic communications controls, resulting in great time and cost savings.

CUSTOMERS CONFIRM BENEFITS OF AUDITED HOSTED EMAIL PROVIDER

With the recent heightened awareness of operational risk management, potential clients of hosted email providers are more frequently requesting SAS 70 audits from vendors in their RFP process. Such audits provide client companies with a measure of comfort in terms of the security and privacy controls employed by their potential business partners.

According to USA.NET client Matthew Camden, chief information officer for UHY Advisors Inc., one of the world’s leading business advisory, consulting and accounting networks, “When we made the decision to move our email and eMessaging function to a vendor of hosted services, we also decided that an SAS 70 Type II audit would be highly desirable for a firm that wished to partner with our company.

“First, the assurance of audited controls provided a great measure of peace of mind.

“Second, a vendor voluntarily assuming the expense of a SAS 70 Type II audit would be by definition a vendor with the kind of controls and procedures we needed to meet financial audit requirements but also reliable and secure ongoing service.

“Lastly, USA.NET’s having already completed their SAS 70 Type II audit saved us a substantial amount of time, money and other resources.

“It is just one more example of how our company tries as much as possible to leave specialized functions like eMessaging to the experts like USA.NET.”

Raises Equity from Goldman Sachs, Bessemer Venture Partners and the Stripes Group

MILFORD, CT – August 23, 2007 – On the heels of the announcement of a $50 million dollar financing by Goldman Sachs two weeks ago, Perimeter eSecurity, the leading provider of Complete Security On Demand, announced today a business combination with USA.NET, the leading provider of secure eMessaging services. The company also announced that as a follow-up to their initial investment Goldman Sachs provided equity financing along with Bessemer Ventures and the Stripes Group.

“For many years businesses needed huge IT departments to assess, integrate, and continually monitor security appliances, but network and email hygiene can no longer be a luxury exclusive to the largest corporations,” said David Cowan, managing partner of Bessemer Venture Partners, who will take up a position on Perimeter’s Board.

So, Bessemer resolved to partner with the most business-friendly, state-of-the-art security and hosted business eMessaging companies that can deliver a soup-to-nuts service.”

David Cowan has a strong track record in successful IT security funding. In addition to Postini – another security software-as-a-service (SaaS) company – that was recently purchased by Google for $625 million, he was also involved in the funding of Cyota, Counterpane, Lifelock and VeriSign, which he co-founded.

A leading SaaS company, USA.NET offers a fully integrated suite of secure hosted messaging services including its Hosted Microsoft® Exchange and Commercial Messaging Solution (CMS) platforms and suite of enhanced services including Anti-Virus/Anti-Spam, Content Filtering, Encrypted Email, Email Archiving, Unified Messaging and Mobility solutions.

“We are excited to be a sponsor of Perimeter’s acquisition of USA.NET,” said Kenneth A. Fox, Founder and President of Stripes Group, LLC. “The combined product offerings provide customers with the highest quality and most complete enterprise security and email solutions on the market. Perimeter’s acquisition of USA.NET further solidifies Perimeter as the best choice for enterprise customers seeking complete security and email solutions.”

Brad Miller, CEO of Perimeter eSecurity, said “USA.NET will add over 1,300 clients to our existing customer base of 4,000, nearly half of which are in the financial services industry. Together, we now offer an incomparable suite of hosted security services that will help take Perimeter to the next level and ensure our market leadership.”

Clients can plug into Perimeter’s pre-integrated security platform to access 50+ managed security services On-Demand — instantly. Offerings include Vulnerability Defense, Intrusion Defense, Network Defense, Email Defense, System Defense, and User Defense. The Company markets its products through channel partners, a direct sales force and a growing base of network service providers. Perimeter’s revenues have grown 575% between 2001 and 2006.

“We are very pleased to be combining USA.NET with Perimeter eSecurity the industry leader in on demand security,” said David Ramon, President and CEO, USA.NET. “Perimeter shares our same commitment to operational excellence, customer service, security, and compliance. Security services have rapidly become one of the most sought after offerings from our clients and this merger will dramatically enhance the depth and breadth of security and compliance services that we can offer our valued clients.”

“As a result of USA.NET’s leading position in the messaging services market, there will be no operating changes for them as a result of this transaction,” said Miller. “We are committed to growing this business and to leverage their previous success.”

Abridean’s partnership with RIM gives service provider the provisioning edge

HALIFAX, NS – August 8, 2007 – Abridean Inc. (www.abridean.com), leaders in the development of hosted application and provisioning solutions, announced today that top-rated USA.NET®, The Global eMessaging Service Provider® has deployed abridean’s Provisor for BlackBerry® Enterprise Server solution to manage thousands of USA.NET Hosted BlackBerry users.

AbrideanProvisor is an application provisioning and management platform that enables service providers like USA.NET to automate and simplify the maintenance of hosted enterprise applications. USA.NET has been using ProvisorSP for their Hosted Exchange services since 2001.

“Our service providers have been seeing a steady increase in demand for both Hosted Microsoft® Exchange and BlackBerry services – USA.NET’s success is well deserved,” said Peter Bidgood, Product Manager with abridean.

“Our partnership with Research In Motion further highlights abridean’s commitment to developing innovative solutions for enterprises and hosted service providers that help them boost efficiency, improve security, and meet regulatory compliance standards.”

Abridean has been a member of the BlackBerry Alliance Program since 2004.
USA.NET FOUND CLEAR RATIONALE FOR DEPLOYMENT OF ABRIDEAN PROVISOR

“Customer demand and our success with Hosted BlackBerry prompted us to make our provisioning process even more efficient,” said Steve O’Brien, USA.NET Senior Director of Services Development. “With abrideanProvisor we can now manage BlackBerry smartphones using the same web interface that our service desk and customer administrators use for provisioning their Hosted Exchange accounts.

“This is significant for us and for abridean because of the ever-wider use of BlackBerry devices for mission critical functions that can benefit from hosted services.”
COMPANIES MOVE TO HOSTED EMAIL AND BLACKBERRY FOR MANY REASONS

Analysts have attributed the rapid move by many industries to Hosted Exchange and BlackBerry services such as those provided by USA.NET to:

* A very high level of reliability (for example, guaranteed 99.9 percent reliability with USA.NET)

* The ability to work anywhere in real time with BlackBerry Enterprise Server

* Instant access to an employee’s Exchange information from a smartphone without ever connecting to a PC

* Increased responsiveness to customers and colleagues with a gain of up to 60 minutes of productive time each day

* High touch service and certified specialists giving continuous support 24x7x365 including customer support, USA.NET manned NOC and Exchange Engineers

* Software upgrades and patches included in a hosting contract

An increasing number of companies have found that this crucial combination of hosted email and BlackBerry services permits much greater concentration on their core business, while cutting down on the time and resources required to run an email system and give remote and mobile employees better communication capabilities.

Leading global e-mail service provider virtually eliminates image-based spam with Symantec

DENVER, CO – May 8, 2007 – Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced that global e-mail service provider USA.NET is using Symantec Brightmail AntiSpam to significantly improve the detection and blocking of unsolicited e-mail messages, delivering more reliable e-mail services to its customers. As part of USA.NET’s multi-layer antispam approach, Symantec has helped the company achieve a fourfold improvement in the catch rate of image-based spam. Symantec has also helped enhance USA.NET’s protection from spam-borne threats, including viruses, spyware and phishing attempts, minimizing spam-related productivity loss for its customers and reducing the burden on its own e-mail infrastructure.

Based in Colorado, USA.NET is the trusted provider of mission critical e-mail services to more than 1,300 corporate customers in more than 120 countries. In addition to offering several levels of hosted Microsoft Exchange and Commercial Messaging Services (CMS), the company provides customers with spam and virus protection, multiple layers of security such as Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption, mobility, and a 99.9 percent service level agreement for guaranteed uptime.

“Blocking spam and the potentially serious threats associated with spam-borne viruses are very important to USA.NET and our customers,” said Dan Wills, vice president of operations, USA.NET. “Symantec is instrumental in virtually eliminating spam, which enables us to focus on our mission of delivering high-quality, reliable e-mail services.”

Reducing the Threat of Image-Based Spam
A Symantec customer since 2002, USA.NET was highly successful in detecting and eliminating spam from its customers’ inboxes. However, in 2006, USA.NET experienced a dramatic increase in the generation of image-based spam—unsolicited e-mail that text-based spam filters are unable to catch—which threatened the company’s quality of service and caused an increase in customer complaints.

USA.NET upgraded to Symantec Brightmail AntiSpam 6.0.4, which included new enhancements that Symantec analysts developed for detecting image-based spam. Since its implementation, USA.NET has more than quadrupled the catch-rate of image-based spam and customer complaints regarding image spam have ceased.

“Successfully blocking image spam is an important benefit for our customers and a key service differentiator for USA.NET,” said Victor Silva, director of client services, USA.NET. “We have a three-layered approach to detecting and stopping spam, and Symantec is a critical component of our solution.”

Symantec Brightmail AntiSpam has a 99.99 percent accuracy rate with virtually no false positives. In addition, the software protects customers from harmful phishing attempts by detecting phishing e-mails received at more than two million decoy e-mail accounts in Symantec’s Global Intelligence Network. Every day, Symantec updates its filters worldwide via Symantec LiveUpdate to effectively block these messages and reduce the risk of USA.NET’s customers inadvertently giving away personal information to spammers.

Operational Efficiency and Increased Customer Retention
USA.NET’s customers are not the only beneficiaries of more effective detection and elimination of spam. Because image-based spam is five to seven times larger than text-based spam it has an unexpected and costly impact on USA.NET’s e-mail infrastructure, increasing e-mail server processing times and storage space. Symantec has helped the company reduce the processing and storage burden on its infrastructure by as much as 90 percent.

“Our customers hear about the problems that image spam is causing in most companies and they are thankful that it is not affecting them,” said Silva. “It is a valuable benefit for our customers and one of the reasons why they continually renew their service contracts with us.”

Mobile Business Applications Assist in Improving Worker Productivity by Over 13%

DENVER, CO – February 21, 2007 – USA.NET (www.usa.net), a leading provider of Hosted Microsoft Exchange and mobility solutions for over six years, has further enhanced its reputation for consistently meeting the needs of today’s growing mobile workforce by earning the Microsoft Mobility Solutions Competency.

USA.NET earned this recognition with an ongoing commitment to enhancing two-way synchronized wireless access to Microsoft Exchange-based applications available through Windows Mobile® as well as BlackBerry® and Good™ Mobile Messaging Services.

By delivering a wide range of reliable and secure solutions that allow mobile workers to access email, attachments, calendar, contacts and tasks wherever they are with a wireless device, USA.NET helps restore productivity and responsiveness previously lost during travel and time spent away from the office. Changes made on wireless devices are reflected in the worker’s live mailbox in real-time, and can also be seen from a full desktop mail client such as Microsoft Outlook® 2003 or Microsoft Office Outlook Web Access®.

“Once again USA.NET has exhibited its expertise and impact in the Software-as-a-Service (S-a-a-S) industry by achieving the Microsoft Mobility competency,” said Ken Young, Chief Information Officer at HOK, a global architectural design firm. “USA.NET continually seeks and provides new, leading-edge ways to help us improve productivity and business processes.”

Mobile Workforce Continues to Grow, as Experts Find Mobility Yields 13.3 Percent Productivity Increase

According to Omni Consulting Group and Cisco’s study, “Affirming the Mobility Quotient,” mobile worker productivity is generating a 13.3 percent increase in TFP (total factor productivity) on a weekly basis. These findings clearly support the conclusion that employers gain five additional productive hours per week by simply adding mobility to their mix of communication tools and providing workers with Microsoft Outlook in their pocket.

According to international research and consulting firm Strategy Analytics, “Workers will average nearly 40 percent of their time away from the desk.” (“Mobile Business Application Outlook,” January 2006).

Industry analysts IDC project in their forecast “Worldwide Mobile Worker Population 2005-2009,” that there will be “more than 878 million mobile workers worldwide by 2009.” USA.NET confirmed the forecasted significant growth of mobile workers in 2006 by seeing a 286% increase for ActivSync® activations alone.
