Exchange Hosting for July, 2006

ALTOONA, IA and DES MOINES, Iowa; (July 26, 2006) – LightEdge Solutions, LBC Technology and Ladco Development today announced that construction of the Edge Business Continuity Center (EdgeBCC) is on schedule and has reached a major milestone as the external structure and roof have been completed and passed testing. The parking lot, concrete placement pads for diesel backup generators and data center cooling units have also been finished in preparation for an estimated grand opening date of November 1, 2006.

EdgeBCC is a 30,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility engineered to provide businesses with a safe haven for protecting their data assets and ensuring critical business operations during a natural disaster to unplanned interruption. The facility has been designed and tested to withstand 200 mph sustained winds, sits atop two separate power grids and includes redundant connections to the Internet. In addition to a full range of data center services, Edge BCC offers disaster recovery workspace with fully-equipped, plug-and-play voice and data connectivity.

“EdgeBCC is really a unique endeavor. The collaboration of Ladco, LBC and LightEdge brings a great deal of knowledge and experience to the table that usually isn’t found with a single business,” said Skip Williams, vice president of sales for Binomial, a national business continuity consulting group. “This facility is indicative of a growing trend toward business continuity for small and medium businesses. EdgeBCC can make this a reality for businesses in Iowa and surrounding states.”

“Business continuity has long been an important component in the risk mitigation strategies of large companies,” said Jim Masterson, chairman and chief executive officer of LightEdge Solutions. “More and more, small and midsize businesses are increasing their reliance on technology, and therefore need to consider the same types of business continuity and disaster recovery initiatives. EdgeBCC will not only help the businesses through a disastrous event, but also positively impact their productivity on a daily basis.”

“Upon completion, EdgeBCC will be the only building of its kind in the Des Moines metro area allowing businesses from Iowa and surrounding states to utilize secure and redundant data center facilities for normal business operations and disaster recovery workspace during a natural disaster or other business interruption,” said Peder Malchow, president of LBC Technology. “On a national level, the facility will allow businesses in hurricane or earthquake-prone areas to host applications or store data in a world-class facility located in the relative safety of the Midwest.”

To manage the facility, EdgeBCC has appointed technology veteran Travis Thompson as chief operating officer. Thompson brings 14 years of experience with the security and engineering processes associated with wide area networking, voice-over-Internet-protocol (VoIP) and storage networking. Currently a Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) and a Cisco Certified Security Specialist (CCSP), Thompson will oversee daily operations including monitoring of the site’s two data centers, coordinating the usage and testing of the disaster recovery workspace and administering the security of both the physical building and the private network.

The building is expected to open by November 1, 2006, with a grand opening ceremony scheduled for September 26, 2006. Facility tours are available through LBC and LightEdge. To make a risk-free reservation for disaster recovery workspace, data center space or managed services, contact LBC or LightEdge.

Warrington July 19th 2006. Internet Facilitators Limited (IFL) one of the top UK companies offering secure hosting for Internet Service Providers and Telecoms companies has contracted with Simply Mail Solutions for the hosting of Microsoft Exchange mailboxes.

IFL was set up in 1997 and they provide carrier neutral data centre space to internet service providers, web hosting companies and other IT service businesses.? Part of the service provided is 24 / 7 support for which they use on call engineers. Ensuring that those engineers have access to email whilst they are out of the office was critical.

Having identified a requirement to improve mobile access to email they looked at the alternatives of hosted solutions compared to in house.? The decision to use a hosted solution was based on a combination of cost and simplicity.? For a small team cost of the hosted solution was much lower since any hardware or expensive software licenses were not needed.? Also as a small team they could just hand over the responsibility for setting up and managing the service to a third party.

Marcus Hopwood, Services Director for IFL commented:? ?We selected Microsoft Exchange in order to maintain the familiar MS Outlook mail client.? The Outlook Mobile Access solution meant that we could also get that same interface from any where in the world that we had access to a web browser.? Finally by using Windows Mobile 5 handsets we were able take advantage of push email technology giving us access to email when out of the office.?

Marcus Hopwood further commented: ?Having decided to use a hosted mail service we looked a number of different providers.? SMS were very responsive to our needs, provided expert advice in helping us select the right service and the cost compared favourably with other providers.? Being based in the UK gave us the confidence that the service would perform well with no lengthy transit delays.?

IFL have a number of accounts, and whilst the original requirement was based on a need to provide remote email access to support engineers they have found the business benefits to be huge.? They can now respond to sales enquiries faster and keep in touch with every day email wherever they are.? As more and more corporate communications move on to email the ability to access that email wherever people are is critical.

Simply Mail Solutions is a dedicated email hosting company based in Warrington, Cheshire. It offers a range of email hosting options from POP3 mailboxes to enhanced email solutions such as MS Exchange and Zimbra Collaboration Suite.

Regarding the service provided by SMS Marcus commented:? ?The support we have received from SMS has been superb.? They provided expert advice when we were selecting a provider and they got us up and running with the service on the same day we placed our order.? Teething problems were ironed out promptly and without any fuss.? Since then the service has been 100% reliable.?

Commented Colin Smith Managing Director of SMS: ?A lot of SME?s are starting to realise that with the new enhanced email packages such as MS Exchange and Zimbra there is a whole lot more they can do to enhance productivity than just get emails to their desk. Mobile access to email is becoming very important now that devices using Microsoft Mobile 5 are coming onto the market and with Zimbra (and MSE) there are very nice tools for collaboration such as shared calendars, contacts and notes?

DES MOINES, Iowa; (July 18, 2006) – LightEdge Solutions, a leading provider of business-to-business managed voice, data and IT services, today announced the completion of a network infrastructure build-out that will add Ames, Iowa City and Dubuque to the LightEdge voice network. Becoming part of this network will allow businesses in these areas to cost-effectively access the features and functionality of the LightEdge voice-over-Internet-protocol (VoIP) platform.

To enable this expansion, LightEdge has added redundant pairs of Cisco media gateways to several facilities. In all instances the devices have been configured as pairs with one acting as the primary device and the other acting as the failover. The addition of these devices has nearly doubled LightEdge’s service capacity available for the Iowa City market, and allows for a much greater reach and better reliability in Ames and Dubuque.

“Our goal with any infrastructure change is ultimately to improve our network so that LightEdge can better serve small and medium-sized businesses,” said Jim Masterson, chairman and chief executive officer of LightEdge. “This is a big win because customers will receive better coverage, reduced costs and enhanced reliability.”

The additional coverage applies to both the converged access and hosted PBX VoIP services provided by LightEdge. In a converged access VoIP implementation, the telephone lines are replaced by a private, high-speed connection to LightEdge. The phone handsets and PBX are left intact. Hosted PBX also involves replacing the phone lines with connectivity from LightEdge, but the company’s PBX and phone handsets are no longer utilized. All of the phone functionality, including voice mail, “Find me/Follow me” call routing, remote office and push-to-talk, is provided through the LightEdge VoIP platform via IP-enabled phones.

While VoIP has become popular for residential use, it has only very recently become of a high enough quality for businesses. The Dell’Oro Group anticipates that IP PBX sales will reach $2 billion by 2010, nearly a three-fold increase from 2005.

DES MOINES, Iowa; MOLINE, Ill (July 11, 2006) – LightEdge Solutions, a leading provider of business-to-business managed voice, data and IT services, today announced a strategic expansion enabling LightEdge to provide high quality voice-over-Internet-protocol (VoIP) telephone and managed services to businesses in the Greater Peoria Market. This expansion comes as the result of a recent business combination with Internet Express, Inc. From this partnership, Lightedge Solutions has gained a redundant data network that will provide the backbone to deliver carrier-grade voice and data services in the Quad-Cities and Peoria.

“In reviewing trends, it’s obvious that VoIP is ready to explode. We have strategically built our network to allow us to scale for a high volume of business,” said Jim Masterson, chairman and chief executive officer of LightEdge Solutions. “With the Quad-Cities partnership, and now the expansion to Peoria, we are allowing new markets to tap into the VoIP platform and network infrastructure that is helping to support nearly 4,000 companies in the Midwest and Southwest.”

LightEdge offers both converged access VoIP and a fully hosted VoIP solution through a quality managed connection to LightEdge. Converged access enables a business to replace its phone lines with a private high-speed connection to LightEdge while existing handsets and the PBX device remain intact. In a hosted model, all of the traditional PBX features (i.e., voicemail and call-forwarding) are handled within the LightEdge VoIP platform to provide an additional level of disaster recovery. Calls are made over private high-speed connections via special IP phones. Users are able to control their personal phone features using a Web-based administration tool. Hybrid phone systems, consisting of both converged access and hosted VoIP, can be established based on the specific needs of the client.

As one of the few providers in Peoria to conduct calls through a completely private and managed infrastructure, LightEdge is able to offer some of the highest service level agreements and provide business-grade service free from latency or signal degradation. The VoIP infrastructure is upgraded regularly to enable new functionality as it is released for the platform.

As a comprehensive managed services provider, LightEdge will offer Peoria businesses a wide array of services that have not been available through a single company. In addition to VoIP, businesses will have access to cost-effective: high-speed business Internet services, IP wide area networking (WAN), managed backup, hosted Microsoft Exchange, dedicated servers and business continuity and disaster recovery services.
