ALTOONA, Iowa and DES MOINES, Iowa—September 26, 2006—LightEdge Solutions and LBC Technology celebrate the grand opening of the Edge Business Continuity Center in Altoona, Iowa. The facility provides businesses with immediate access to a fully-functional alternate workspace, including individual workstations, meeting spaces and data center services, which can be utilized if a company’s primary office location is compromised by a natural disaster or unplanned interruption.
In the event of a disaster, EdgeBCC customers can immediately relocate key staff members to the Altoona facility, where they can resume critical operations. Voice-over-IP (VoIP) phone systems enable immediate transfer of services to the offsite location, and pre-established desktop images can be loaded on computers at each workstation, providing employees with the same access, features and applications that are available to them at their primary location.
EdgeBCC is constructed specifically for the risks associated with Central Iowa. Its pre-cast concrete wall and roof design has been tested to withstand sustained 200 mph winds for maximum tornado resistance. The entire facility is designed to offer N+1 redundancy on every main component including: multiple power grids, uninterruptible power supplies and onsite diesel powered generators. EdgeBCC’s Midwest location offers companies in risk-prone areas the opportunity to leverage the relative stability of the Central Iowa environment and the tested and proven safety and security of the EdgeBCC facility for business continuity planning.
“We are excited to celebrate the grand opening of the EdgeBCC facility,” said Jim Masterson, chairman and chief executive officer of LightEdge Solutions. “EdgeBCC enables small and midsize businesses to take advantage of risk mitigation and business continuity options that have previously been either too costly or too difficult to implement. The solution is truly unique, and provides Midwest businesses with business continuity planning options that were not previously available in this area.”
“Edge BCC is the only building of its kind in central Iowa,” said Peder Malchow, president of LBC Technologies. “Our world-class facility brings much needed data center facilities as well as disaster recovery workspace to Iowa and surrounding area businesses.”
EdgeBCC Advantages
Location: EdgeBCC is located near the junction of Interstates 35 and 80, on land that is known to be flood resistant and geologically stable, and is serviced by two independent power grid substations systems that are underutilized and not prone to blackouts/brownouts.
Facility: The pre-cast, fully insulated concrete structure has been designed and tested to withstand sustained 200 MPH winds, and is enclosed with a dry design, double membrane concrete roof.
Data Center Designed for Next Generation Components : The facility has been specifically designed to accommodate the increasing power and cooling demands of next generation computing and storage environments.
Geographical Data Redundancy: LightEdge data connectivity provides full redundancy with services from two Central Offices that are separated by
15 miles. Dual fiber paths lead into the building at two separate locations, providing an alternate fiber connection if one of the fiber strands were
ever severed.Pre-provisioned PC’s and Voice-over-IP Phones: EdgeBCC is pre-provisioned with Voice-over-IP handsets that can quickly and seamlessly transfer their corporate phone systems to the EdgeBCC infrastructure. Pre-provisioned desktop computing environments and pre-configured customer desktop images enable customers to move critical employees into the disaster recovery space to seamlessly continue critical operational functions.
For more information on EdgeBCC
EdgeBCC will be complete and fully operational on November 1, 2006. To learn more about the datacenter and disaster recovery workspace availability or other IT services offered through the facility, contact LightEdge Solutions or LBC Technology.

Commented SMS?s Colin Smith ?We are pleased to offer the Advanced Anti Spam package at a price and usability that is attractive to SMEs. Users can elect to protect 1 mailbox or 1000 within their organization; they just pay a fixed monthly fee per mailbox. There is no need to download and install time consuming server or desktop software. In addition the level of control can either be delegated to the individual user or set at the highest level depending on an organization?s spam policy. Organizations can have email packages and systems not on our network and still take advantage of the Advanced Anti Spam package.
?We have been testing this package with our users and the feedback has been universally positive. This is best summarised by what one of our French customers had to say ?I received before much spam and with your advanced postini anti-spam service, I do not have almost any more any spam in my mailbox !??

VPS Windows 2003 gives dedicated hosting benefits for a lower price
NEW YORK (September 18, 2006) - Intermedia.NET, the US leader in Exchange and Web hosting for small and medium businesses, today announced its Windows 2003 Virtual Private Server (VPS) offering. Relatively unusual for Windows Web hosting, the Intermedia.NET Value Managed VPS hosting is a fully-managed virtual server powerful enough for demanding users.
Lisa Coleman
Marketing Manager
(646) 519 8206
[email protected]
For developers, it offers a highly-customizable environment without the higher cost of buying a physical dedicated server, as well as a 99.9% uptime SLA and 24×7 management and support from Microsoft Gold Certified staff. Pricing for the fully-managed service starts at $150 per month.
Each virtual private server is highly configurable and can be built to Web hosting customers’ exact specifications. Intermedia.NET’s VPS hosting servers reside in the company’s tier-1 datacenter and run on the latest dual-processor, dual-core Intel Xeon processors, with 8 GB RAM and SCSI RAID storage, for maximum uptime and performance.
“We are pleased to offer our customers an affordable option for dedicated Web hosting through our new VPS hosting environment,” said Serguei Sofinski, CEO of Intermedia.NET. “Through Intermedia.NET, companies can now get a server that is completely customized to their needs, without the high costs associated with managed dedicated server offerings.”
Intermedia.NET offers a wide variety of hosted Microsoft Exchange and business Web hosting plans, from the smallest businesses to substantial mid-sized organizations. For further details on our Value Managed VPS hosting plan, please visit http://www.intermedia.net/vps-value-plan.asp.
The survey also found that despite unhelpful stereotyping such as Apple’s ‘Mac and PC’ commercials, IT and business people are equally likely – at 5% each – to wear dated 1990s spectacles.
Confirming one stereotype, however, was the finding that IT workers were almost twice as likely to carry a Maglite and a Leatherman. Both businesspeople and IT people prefer a Leatherman over a MagLite, and are 20% more likely to carry one.
“Our research provides an interesting insight into the life of IT people,” said Rurik Bradbury, VP marketing for Intermedia.NET. “Our large Microsoft Gold Certified team of engineers was comforted that IT people are twice as likely to wear Megadeth and similar t-shirts, and that black jeans and ponytails are still hot items. However, they were distraught to find that the cellphone belt clip has gone ‘mainstream’ and lost its identification with the IT subculture.”
One interesting finding from the study was that IT staff are more likely to wear an expensive suit than a cheap one. While business staff are still far more likely to wear any suit at all, IT people shun cheap suits, with 33% more of them choosing a pricey suit over a bargain one. Fake expensive watches are currently not popular among techies, with only 2% of IT people admitting to wearing one.
“Intermedia.NET believes the findings in this study to be very valuable,” added Bradbury. “Both business managers and IT professionals are quickly adopting hosted Microsoft Exchange, and this research helps us to better understand the mindset of our customers.”
Intermedia.NET offers hosted Microsoft Exchange to small and medium businesses, with affordable plans starting at $9.95 per month for each user.

TORRANCE, Calif., September 18, 2006 LiveOffice Corp.’s Conferencing Division (http://freeconferencing.liveoffice.com/) today launched a new web-based call control panel to its 14,000+ service subscribers. The new Free Conferencing Web Manager helps conference call organizers better manage every step of their calls by allowing them to control individual attendee rights from the convenience of their Internet-connected desktop or laptop PC.
Enabled by AJAX technology, the Free Conferencing Web Manager allows call hosts to view detailed information about attendees in real-time, including their name, the number they are calling from, their connection status and their join and leave times. One of the most unique features is the interactive Q&A function that allows muted attendees to use their phone keypad to “virtually” raise their hand when they have a question. The raised hand appears on the call host’s Web Manager screen next to the attendee’s name and allows the host to un-mute that individual attendee so that they can ask their question.
“Thousands of people have already discovered that LiveOffice Free Conferencing is the most feature-rich and best free teleconferencing product on the market today,” said Ted Heieck, product manager for LiveOffice Corp. “Now we are taking the functionality a step further - making the call management process simpler than ever before by giving call hosts a way to visually see and manage what is going on during their call at any given second.”
In addition, call organizers are provided with more than 10 different options for using their PC to control a call in real-time, ranging from ending the conference to muting all participants or starting conference recording. Each of these options can be instantly enabled or disabled with a quick click of the mouse button, giving the event host incredible control throughout the call. Plus, conference hosts can enable certain features, such as call mute, for one participant, while disabling it for another participant.
A call host can also use the convenient Free Conferencing Web Manager’s click-to-call feature to dial-out to a participant all they have to do is enter the attendee’s phone number and click the Dial Participant button. Once enabled, this feature rings the participant’s phone and automatically joins them into the conference call when they answer it.
LiveOffice Free Conferencing is an on-demand, reservationless service that can accommodate 250 participants on a single call for up to 6 hours. Registering for a free account is easy and only requires that the registrant enter their name and email on the signup page form located at http://freeconferencing.liveoffice.com/. Once they click the signup button, they are provided with a dial-in number and conference code that they can instantly use to begin hosting conference calls and taking advantage of LiveOffice’s real-time Free Conferencing Web Manager.
Pricing & Availability
The services mentioned above are available now at http://freeconferencing.liveoffice.com/. LiveOffice’ Free Conferencing Web Manager is offered at no charge to all service subscribers.
