Any small and mid-size businesses wishing to migrate to Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 from an earlier version of Exchange or another email program which they are currently maintaining in-house will have to consider all of the ramifications of that decision. Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 will require the purchase of new hardware and software to meet the new 64 bit hardware requirement. In this economy, do you have the financial resources to purchase new hardware and software? There is no alternative to this prerequisite as an in place upgrade is not possible.

Do you have the personnel needed to support, monitor and maintain the servers around the clock to ensure continuous uptime or do you anticipate hiring additional personnel? Is your IT personnel sufficiently expert in Microsoft Exchange Server administration to manage it using a command line interface as is now required? With our 123Together.com hosted Exchange Server 2007 SP1 service, businesses of all sizes can utilize this industry-leading message tool without having to purchase any hardware or software, train IT staff, hire additional personnel, wait a few months for in-house Exchange Server deployment or manage, maintain and monitor servers around the clock. We work with companies on an individual basis, helping to migrate your data at a pace set by you – as slowly or quickly as you require. There is no large initial capital outlay – only a small monthly fee with no commitments or obligations. Our 24 x7 technical support is available to you any time of the day or night and is fully based in the United States.

Burlington, MA, February 27, 2008 - 123Together.com, the leading provider of hosted enterprise-class messaging and collaboration solutions such as hosted Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 and hosted Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 SP1, today announced the availability of migration tools and assistance for small and mid-size businesses (SMBs) who wish to migrate their email from a previous version of Microsoft Exchange Server or another email program to its hosted Exchange Server 2007 SP1 service.

123Together.com’s hosted Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 SP1 service empowers businesses to take advantage of the same messaging and collaboration tools used by Fortune 500 companies by providing them with immediate access to the latest version of Microsoft Exchange. 123Together.com’s hosted Exchange service offers businesses greater functionality, and improved stability including access to Exchange 2007 SP1 features such as a more efficient and easier to use interface for Outlook Web Access, support for mailboxes as large as 15GB, fast performance on 64bit servers, shared and dedicated (including clustered dedicated) server options, instant message searching capabilities and more.

IT managers wishing to utilize Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 SP1 in-house are discovering that it will be an expensive and time consuming road ahead. An in-house upgrade requires a significant capital outlay due to the requirement for new 64bit hardware. In place upgrades are not possible from prior versions of Exchange Server to Exchange 2007 and additional personnel may need to be hired or existing staff re-trained for proficiency with the command line administration interface utilized for the management of Exchange Server 2007. Other peripheral applications such as Backup, Anti-virus and mobility software may also require significant upgrades in order to support Exchange Server 2007.

Companies can capitalize on 123Together.com’s hosted Exchange Server 2007 SP1 without making investments in technology or personnel. Additionally, customers have the advantage of utilizing this technology without having to manage, monitor and maintain in-house hardware or software on an ongoing basis. Along with full Exchange 2007 SP1 access, customers receive an easy to use web-based administration interface, 24×7 US based phone and email support, and full support for BlackBerry Enterprise Server, Windows Mobile and Good Messaging Server support. 123Together.com also provides customers with a 99.9% uptime guarantee on its shared servers and a 100% uptime guarantee on its dedicated servers.

“The new hardware and additional financial outlay required for an in-house migration to Exchange Server 2007 SP1 has caused many businesses to rethink a possible upgrade,” said Ravi Agarwal, chief executive officer of 123Together.com. “However, by using 123Together.com’s Exchange 2007 hosting service, we will work with individual businesses to migrate their mailboxes and data as quickly or as slowly as they require and provide them with automated tools to customize the process to their needs. Transitioning employee email at a rate that they can easily absorb is key to making the migration as seamless as possible.”

123Together.com offers hosted Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 SP1 on both shared and dedicated servers. Various levels of free migration assistance are available for dedicated server customers based on the server level purchased.

Simply Mail Solutions Leads The Way In High Quality Email Hosting

Warrington, Tuesday February 19th, 2008. ?Simply Mail Solutions, based in Warrington, Cheshire, UK was set up in 2006 to enter the growing market for email hosting, particularly aimed at SMEs. The company has grown rapidly and has over 1000 customers in 35 countries.

SMS is setting standards for the email hosting industry in four ways:

? Equipment is located in two independent high quality Data Centres in Manchester with excellent separate Internet connectivity and all the facilities such as back-up power that continuously on-line services now require. The locations are connected by high speed diversely routed fibre links so that both sites have completely independent Internet connections each of which has diverse connectivity. The fibre connection effectively puts the sites on the same LAN allowing SMS to build in redundancy and data transfers from servers and appliances between sites. Development and some backup customer functions are located at the SMS NOC ? effectively a third site.

? Use of high availability data storage from leading supplier NetApps ensures that data is always available and backed up continuously using near-instant SnapShot technology.

? Servers are now VMware clusters. This means that the various software servers are running on a smaller number of closely interconnected very powerful hardware servers. Should a software server crash its functions can be running on other servers in the cluster in seconds (even if the hardware is actually in the other data centre). Also because the servers can be used more efficiently less power is required hence they are a green solution compared with lots of underutilised smaller servers.

? The in-house developed Control Panel allows users to easily manage their mailboxes on-line whenever they want. The CRM system is also available on-line 24/7 allowing users to manage their billing, at any time, from anywhere.

SMS offers the following email servers: SMS NexGen a powerful POP3/IMAP option, MS Exchange, and Zimbra CS plus Windows Mobile 5/6 and BlackBerry support with full push email/calendars/contacts/tasks. These are complimented by anti-spam, anti-virus, domain registration and web hosting options.? Larger users go for dedicated rather than shared hosting.

The market for email hosting has had two major drivers a) the increasing cost and hassle in installing, running, and maintaining a server and b) the increasing use of mobile phones for email. The latter requires more advanced email server software such as Microsoft Exchange, Zimbra CS and BlackBerry BES and places even more load on the servers and the people who have to maintain them.? SMS has just added support for BlackBerry mobile phones and also supports Windows Mobile which is available on many smartphones. Apple iPhone is also supported.

SMS MD Colin Smith commented ?It is important to stand back and look at what is required to build a world class email hosting company and we believe that with the developments we have made, we are setting that standard. Two hosting sites was a major development allowing us to move towards a very robust system, even towards disaster recovery standards. We believe that this will be a major consideration for customers as we expand because of the importance of email in the corporate IT structure. It also increases the incentive for larger companies (hundreds or thousands or mailboxes) to outsource their email to us.?

77 percent of consumers switch to competitors if a business website does not provide communication methods. Positive communication experiences cause 85 percent of consumers to bookmark the website.

Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) February 19, 2008 — An alarming 77 percent of Americans report that they would switch to a competitor if a business website did not provide ways to communicate, such as contact information or real-time dialog, according to a study by MaCorr Research and sponsored by 1&1 Internet Inc., the world’s largest web host by known servers. Some 78 percent of consumers are irritated when unable to find a way to communicate on a business’ website. Almost half of consumers (48 percent) have felt angry to the degree they tell someone; even 5 percent admitted being brought to tears or violence by the problem. The ability to contact a business was the most important aspect of using a business’ website for 85 percent of Americans. Therefore it is not surprising that consumers report having been most irritated by being unable to find the contact phone number (91 percent) and unable to find the contact email (82 percent). On the contrary, a successful experience contacting a business will cause 85 percent of consumers to bookmark the website.

According to 1&1’s ‘Website Communication Survey’ of some 1,025 US consumers, 89 percent of consumers expect all businesses to have a website regardless of the size. Although this is the case, 68 percent select an SMB for greater personal attention and over half (51 percent) chose an SMB, over a large corporation, because of the individual relationship they build with the business. It is therefore vital for SMBs to utilize communication tools to provide that personal attention. Some 70 percent of consumers have a negative perception of businesses that do not provide ways to communicate directly. A lack of clear contact information such as address and telephone numbers on a business website has elicited a negative emotional response such as irritation (78 percent) all the way to tears or violence (5 percent).

For businesses to remain progressive and appealing, it is imperative that they use advanced features to communicate with the consumer. Small businesses especially should take advantage of communications applications to continue providing a direct and personal approach to consumers. Andreas Gauger, Chairman of the Board, 1&1 Internet Inc., said, “For businesses to remain progressive and appealing, it is imperative that they use advanced features to communicate with the consumer. Small businesses especially should take advantage of communications applications to continue providing a direct and personal approach to consumers.”
The survey also revealed businesses that provide effective communications features benefit significantly. After successfully contacting a business, almost all consumers (97 percent) agree they would visit the website again and use the business in the future. Some 93 percent would use the business more frequently, 92 percent would recommend the business to others and an astonishing 85 percent would bookmark the website on their browser. It is not surprising that, ‘Availability of contact information,’ is the most important (85 percent) characteristic of a business website.

“Our research clearly shows that consumers value an approachable and easily accessible business. More of us than ever are using real-time online messaging in our everyday lives and consumers now place high expectations on businesses to provide a means of communication,” said Gauger.

Americans are becoming increasingly keen on real-time live dialogue via the web. The survey found that almost half of consumers (49 percent) use live chat and instant messenger tools 11+ times a month. Over 50 percent of consumers perceive companies that provide communication features such as real-time dialog as progressive, advanced, and eager to please the customer. As consumers use technology more, the demand for easily accessible and advanced communication features is becoming more important for business websites. 1&1’s survey revealed that the majority of consumers (72 percent) will spend less than 3 minutes searching for contact information on a website before switching to another site.

Gauger added, “At 1&1 we continually research and develop applications for businesses to maintain an innovative web presence. Our communication tools provide the ability to offer the appeal of personal attention, while competing against large corporations in the industry. Every US business must recognize the features that attract consumers to a website, as well as use those tools that turn a consumer into a loyal customer.”

56% of email users falsely believe that email is ‘secure’, research shows

New York, NY (February 12, 2008) - Intermedia, the worldwide leader in business email services, today introduced Secure Mail, the first Microsoft Exchange software as a service (SaaS) that both encrypts email and fully complies with archiving regulations established by a cross-section of industries. This offering represents a real, implementable solution that resolves poor email practices just confirmed by startling new research. A new survey by Intermedia of 500 business email users revealed:

76% send credit card information or social security numbers via email
87% send contracts and legal documents
56% of users believe – incorrectly – that ‘email is secure’
Intermedia’s new service means that, for the first time, small and medium businesses (SMBs) will be able to deploy Microsoft Exchange as a fully-managed service with full encryption and archiving, for just a few dollars per month in fees – instead of $100,000 or more in upfront costs, including solution deployment, integration and management. Email is encrypted directly in Outlook and can only be opened by recipients when a correct password is entered. It then gets archived for compliance purposes.

“With our new Secure Mail offering, SMBs can now afford to comply with email best practices such as encryption and archiving,” said Rurik Bradbury, VP of Strategy for Intermedia. “This is especially important in fields such as finance or healthcare, but even beyond regulated industries, companies should reduce legal risk by protecting and retaining important email. Intermedia has finally made this cost-effective.”

Many businesses must comply with regulations that enforce rules dictating email privacy and information archiving. For example, the SEC specifies that electronic storage media preserve records exclusively in a non-rewriteable and non-erasable format. Sarbanes-Oxley requires saving sensitive material for auditing purposes, while HIPAA mandates strict confidentiality around patient information. Further, the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) were changed in 2006 to recognize and account for electronically stored information such as emails and instant messages.

The Secure Mail service will cost $7.95 per mailbox as a monthly fee, with a setup fee of $7.95 each. This is a fraction of the cost of traditional public key infrastructure (PKI) encryption systems, which also take a great deal of effort to deploy. A major benefit of the system is that recipients of the encrypted mail do not have to have the Intermedia software installed, but can pick up their messages via a secure Web connection.

Despite ever-increasing legal risks, many companies continue to send email without encryption – even including sensitive data – and then fail to retain it with an email archiving policy. This, despite the fact that many lawsuits have been awarded following sensitive data leaks or a failure to produce email demanded by lawyers – with millions of dollars in damages.

The Intermedia survey showed general misunderstanding among business users of the fact that email is insecure and sent across the public Internet. A high percentage of respondents admitted to sending important data by email, including strategic company documents (88%), contracts and legal documents (87%) and company financial information (86%). On a more personal level, seventy-six percent of people send social security and credit card numbers via email, even though 44% are aware that it is not secure.
